March 17th Community Update

Dear Riverview Community,

The purpose of this communication is to provide an update on progress we are making toward continuing to meet student, staff, and community needs, related to the COVID-19 virus.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding as we handled the unexpected and unforeseen loss of internet services, which impacted our district's network capabilities.

As many of you know, the Adventure Church building in Duvall suffered a devastating fire in the early morning hours of March 16, 2020. The fire melted our fiber optic lines and took out internet service for not only Riverview, but also for many community members.

On Tuesday afternoon, the network was restored, and access was again available for all student-issued devices.

A huge thank you to our Information Technology Team and Frontier Communications representatives who worked so quickly to respond to the outage and get everyone reconnected.

Food Service Adds Stillwater for Meal Services

We are proud to announce that Stillwater Elementary is being added to the Food Services "Grab and Go" meals program, beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17. The Pre-Order form now allows the option to select Stillwater Elementary as a food pick-up option.

Pre-Orders for meals must be completed between 2:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. and multiple orders can be placed for additional days.

To place your order, please visit and select "Request a Meal" to fill out the online order form. Orders may also be placed through the district's new hotline, (425) 844-4544. When calling, please indicate the day you would like a meal, the location you plan on picking up your meal, and whether you need a breakfast item, lunch item, or both.

"Stay Engaged" Learning Information

The "Engage" website ( is live and the response has been overwhelmingly positive, based on feedback from our community and other school districts.

Our Teaching and Learning Department has passed along some notes regarding the "Student Engagement" portion of the website, which houses numerous learning resources for elementary and secondary students and families.

Now that the documents and materials are up and running on the "Student Engagement" section of our Engage website, our Teaching and Learning Department is reviewing, revising and updating materials based on feedback we are gathering through the Engage website and the e-mail account. Please note that the resources and activities are designed to engage students in learning opportunities. They are not a replacement for the instruction that happens in classrooms. While structured over a 10-day period, the activities on the Elementary page could easily last much longer than ten days. Secondary students may still turn in missing or incomplete work that was due prior to March 12 to be counted. Learning experiences may be shared upon the return to school but will not be graded or count toward final grades. We are waiting to hear from translation vendors/services and hope to have our Teaching and Learning section translated into Spanish in the near future.

Strategic Planning Community Forum

The Strategic Plan Community Forum, scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2020, has been cancelled. This event will be rescheduled.
