OSPI Internet

The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has partnered with local internet service providers to offer free internet to families in need.  Please review the conditions here.

Our district is served by Comcast (parts of Carnation), as well as shared service from Wave and Ziply (formerly Frontier) in Duvall and northern parts of Carnation.

Families must initiate service from these providers - the district cannot do this for you.  Additionally, families can contact our Stay Engaged email / hotline to see if a district provided hotspot can work for you.

To get started:

Ziply:

In order for students to apply for this free program, please have a parent or guardian call Ziply Fiber at 866-916-0139 and provide this promo code: riv2020.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00am - 10:00pm PST, Saturday and Sunday 8:00am – 6:00pm PST.

To qualify for this program, a student’s household must meet the following criteria:
•    your child must be eligible for free or reduced-price meals through your school and
•    your household had no internet connection in your home prior to August 2020

To confirm eligibility, Ziply Fiber will need a few details from you about your income. This information will be shared with Washington’s K–12 education department through a secure access portal and will never be used for any other purpose.  Please note, the State of Washington will audit eligibility throughout the program. Should they determine your eligibility status has changed, service will be discontinued under terms of this program.

Once you are approved for the K–12 Internet Access Program, you will get fast, free Ziply Fiber internet through June 30, 2021. It’s easy to continue with us after that; we have no contracts and offer several affordable plan options.

Presidio:

For OSPI’s Free Washington School Internet program, Presidio is one of three selected providers. We partner with all kinds of ISPs to bring the solution for internet connectivity that is right for each family, to that specific family.

What Presidio Provides:

  • Presidio provides 4GLTE MoFi connectivity in all areas, through all major and minor cellular carriers, such as T-Mobile and Verizon, and other large providers, and smaller local cell providers as well.

  • These are Mobile Hotspots, which can either stay stationary within a home, or move with your student/family for connections wherever cellular connectivity is present.

  • In some areas not served by Comcast or Ziply, Presidio provides broadband.

How to enroll:

Equipment installation and troubleshooting:

For equipment that has stopped working, students would work through the help line available for that carrier (T-Mobile for example) by contacting the help-desk-number that is available either on the router itself, or in their enrollment kit.

Lost equipment:

For all ISP providers, (Presidio, Comcast, and Ziply) families are responsible for paying for lost or destroyed hardware.  We don’t want families to be surprised by this. OSPI states this policy on their informational website, and this is also stated Presidio’s enrollment survey, family letter, and in the enrollment process.

Billing and Privacy:

  • Families will not receive a bill.

  • Information transmitted to Presidio, OSPI and to any Hotspot carrier involved is secure, not shared, and digitally encrypted.

Comcast:

We do not have an enrollment code for Comcast, but Carnation families can contact Comcast to determine service eligibility at:  https://www.internetessentials.com.

Wave:

Wave, serving Duvall area does not have a service agreement with OSPI.  Families can contact Wave to see if they have any programs available.
